Designed and launched a Task Management feature to help frontline managers coordinate distributed teams, directly within the Staffbase intranet app.

Designed and launched a Task Management feature to help frontline managers coordinate distributed teams, directly within the Staffbase intranet app.

CONTEXT

Customers relied on external tools for their store coordination that were costly, fragmented, and not built for low tech-savvy users. At Staffbase, this space was largely unexplored, relying on an external solution with technical and UX limitations.

I joined early with no clear direction and, together with two engineers. We defined and built the product in-house.

SPOILER ALERT

It generated €700k in closed deals and €700k+ late-stage pipeline. Scaled into a dedicated cross-functional team.

Store coordination sits at the core of daily operations for retail teams, yet the experience of many of our customers had evolved into a fragmented external set of tools that became too costly for them.

This project explores a new approach to task management within Staffbase, strengthening the product’s position in sales, while replacing external systems with a simple, integrated experience designed for low tech-savvy users.

The Original Experience

The Original Experience

Task management relied on an external iframe solution. Assigning and tracking work across locations was not possible and not suited for low tech-savvy users. With almost no user adoption we had to change things up.

Building the experience from scratch gave us a lot of creative freedom. We broke task creation down to its essentials while making room for a more functional experience that delivers the capabilities users expect

Designed for clarity. Built for everyone.

Designed for clarity. Built for everyone.

We stripped things back to the essentials, a simple list that shows what needs to be done without adding complexity. It’s designed for people who just want to get their work done. Scrolling through tasks feels familiar, keeping the focus on the work, not the tool.

Solution 3

Stay focused on what matters

Stay focused on what matters

Managing work across locations often makes it hard to see what needs attention. Bringing everything into simple lists makes it easier to stay organized.

“Today” shows what matters now, while “Your tasks” keeps the focus on what’s yours, making it easier to stay on top of the day.
